The Jaguars we work on
XJ, XK and the classics. The 1998–2013 XJ8, XJR, XJL and Vanden Plas sedans and the XK8, XKR and XK coupes are the Jaguars we see most, followed by XJS and E-Type cars from the 1970s to the 1990s. They have their own page: Jaguar XJ, XK and classic repair.
F-TYPE. 2015–2024 coupes and convertibles, V6 and V8, most of them now out of factory warranty. They have their own page too: Jaguar F-TYPE repair.
F-PACE, E-PACE, XF and XE. The 2017–2020 generation, the cars that came off lease and are now on their second owner. Check engine lights, coolant leaks and rear brakes are the usual reasons they come in.
What Jaguars need, in the order we see it
Electrical faults and battery drains. The single most common Jaguar job here. A battery that keeps going flat on an XJ8 or XK is often a seat module staying awake; a cluster full of warnings (cruise control, traction control, TPMS) on a 2007–2008 XK is usually an alternator charging low. We measure the draw and the charging voltage before replacing anything. Electrical repair
Check engine lights. On the supercharged V6 and V8 (F-PACE, XF, F-TYPE) the lean codes P2187 and P2189 usually trace to the PCV valve built into the passenger-side valve cover, confirmed with a smoke test. Misfire codes on the F-TYPE are chased coil, plug and injector in that order, on the road, until the code stops coming back. We use the Autologic platform (now Opus IVS) for Jaguar. Computer diagnostics
Coolant leaks. Thermostat housings, coolant flanges, water pumps, expansion tanks and heater hoses. We pressure test to find the leak, repair it, refill, bleed and pressure test again, because a second leak often shows up once the first is fixed. Cooling system repair
Brakes. Pads, rotors and wear sensors, measured on both axles. Rear pads go first on the XE and F-PACE. On the F-TYPE an oil leak with a soft pedal is the brake vacuum pump. Brake repair
Oil leaks. Oil filter housings on the XJ and XJS, valve cover, timing cover and oil pan gaskets on the 1998–2002 V8 cars, the brake vacuum pump on the F-TYPE, transmission pan gaskets on the XK. We clean the area, confirm the source and fix that.
Suspension and steering. Control arm bushings and sway bar links on the F-TYPE and XJR, height sensors on the XK's adaptive suspension, power steering pumps on the XJ. Suspension services
Scheduled service. Oil and filter, engine and cabin filters, brake fluid and the interval services. Every visit includes pad, tire and leak measurements so you know what is coming. Oil change and scheduled service
Repairs from our records
A 2007 XK arrived with a cluster full of warnings: cruise control, traction control, a catalyst message, tire pressure. None of them was the problem. The alternator was charging at 13.1 volts, too low to keep the modules happy. One alternator, codes cleared, road test, and every warning stayed off.
A 2000 XJ8 kept flattening its battery. A draw test with the car asleep pointed at the passenger seat module, still awake and drawing current. We replaced the seat modules and calibrated them to the car; the overnight draw was gone.
A 2018 F-PACE came in with a check engine light and codes P0505 and P2189. The air leak was at the passenger-side valve cover. We replaced the valve cover and, since the front was apart, fitted the updated upper and lower coolant flanges that fail on this engine. Pressure test, bleed, codes cleared.
A 2017 F-TYPE with a coolant leak. The pressure test found the thermostat housing. We replaced it, refilled and bled the system, then pressure tested it again rather than assume: no second leak.
A 2018 E-PACE with a misfire on cylinder 2. There was coolant in cylinders 2 and 3, and the pressure test confirmed a head gasket leak. New head gasket and head bolts, fresh coolant and oil, pressure test, road test. The misfire did not return.
A 2013 XJ whose steering had gone heavy. The power steering pump had failed. New pump and reservoir, the system filled and bled, and a road test to confirm normal steering effort with no leaks.

How a visit works
- Call with the symptom and we book the car in.
- We diagnose and send an estimate before any repair.
- We repair and then test: road test, pressure test or fault scan as the job requires.
- Repairs are backed by our 1-year / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor.
Using an independent shop does not affect your factory warranty. We fit original or equivalent-quality parts.
Questions Jaguar owners ask us
My Jaguar's battery keeps dying. Is it the battery?
Sometimes, but on the XJ and XK it is often a module that stays awake. We load-test the battery and then measure the parasitic draw before replacing anything.
Do you work on older Jaguars?
Yes. The XJS, Series III XJ and E-Type come through regularly, for carburetors, fuel systems, cooling and brakes as well as full recommissioning. See our XJ, XK and classic page.
My 2017 Jaguar is out of warranty. Can you handle it?
Yes. The F-PACE, F-TYPE, XF and XE are now most of the modern Jaguars we see, and we have the Autologic platform (now Opus IVS) for module programming and fault diagnosis.
Do you offer a shuttle?
Yes. We run a shuttle service; mention it when you book.
