What an F-TYPE needs, in the order we see it

Coolant leaks. The most common F-TYPE repair here: thermostat housings, coolant flanges, water pumps, the supercharger coolant pipes and the reservoir cap. We pressure test, repair, refill and bleed, then pressure test again, because these engines often have a second leak waiting behind the first. Cooling system repair

Check engine lights and misfires. Lean codes on the supercharged engine point at the PCV valve in the valve cover; misfire codes are chased coil, plug and injector, swapping parts between cylinders on the road until the code follows the part. A cold ambient-temperature reading on the cluster with code P0071 is the sensor in the mirror. Computer diagnostics

Brake vacuum pump. An oil leak at the front of the engine with a slightly soft pedal is the brake vacuum pump. We replace it and clean the area.

Brakes. Pads, rotors and wear sensors measured on both axles. F-TYPE rotors lip and score before the pads wear out, so we check both. Brake repair

Suspension. Front lower forward control arm bushings and rear sway bar links wear first; a car that will not track straight after a collision repair elsewhere needs an alignment check before any parts. Suspension services

Scheduled service. The 30,000-mile and interval services with oil and filter, engine and cabin filters, tire pressures and the reminder reset, and pad and tire measurements written on the invoice. Oil change and scheduled service

Repairs from our records

A 2017 F-TYPE arrived on a tow truck with a coolant leak nobody could find: the pressure test was clean. On the road test the leak showed itself at the reservoir cap. New reservoir and cap, refill, bleed, road test. Dry.

Another 2017 F-TYPE, same complaint, different answer. The pressure test found the thermostat housing. We replaced it, refilled and bled the system, then pressure tested again before handing the keys back: no second leak.

A 2016 F-TYPE with coolant on the ground. The front lower and rear coolant flanges were both leaking. We replaced the front pipes, the rear heater pipe and the water pump together, with the supercharger and intake gaskets, rather than open the engine twice.

A 2017 F-TYPE with a misfire on cylinder 5. The coil was swapped to cylinder 6: the code stayed on 5. The plug was swapped: still 5. A new injector on cylinder 5, and after two road tests the code was gone. The owner chose to replace the other five injectors while the engine was apart.

A 2020 F-TYPE with a check engine light and six codes behind it. The crankcase vent valve and water pump were the starting point; with both replaced, the system filled and bled and pressure tested, the codes cleared and stayed off on the road test.

A 2017 F-TYPE in for a brake check: pads at 1 mm front and rear, rotors below minimum. Pads and rotors on both axles, verified on the road.

What F-TYPE owners say about us

“Finding someone I trusted to work on my 2024 Jaguar F-Type wasn’t something I wanted to take chances with. When the rear differential failed, I brought the car to Sherman Oaks Exclusive. Instead of pushing me toward the most expensive repair option, Amir and his team took the time to source a more affordable rear differential solution and got the car repaired with a surprisingly fast turnaround. The communication and service throughout the entire process were incredible. These guys really know European cars.”

Questions F-TYPE owners ask us

My F-TYPE is out of warranty. Do I have to go to the dealer?

No. We have the Autologic platform (now Opus IVS) for Jaguar module programming and diagnosis, and your factory warranty is not affected by using an independent shop.

Why does the coolant keep dropping with no puddle?

Small leaks at the flanges and the cap only show under pressure or heat. A pressure test and a road test find them.

Is the work warrantied?

Repairs are backed by our 1-year / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor; we fit original or equivalent-quality parts.
